Choose metrics that reflect what the campaign was actually designed to achieve.

Separate awareness from action

Views and reach can help describe exposure; visits, enquiries and purchases describe different actions. Decide which stage matters most. A campaign meant to introduce a new brand should not be judged by the same dashboard as a discount-code campaign.

Agree on tracking in advance

Use consistent UTM parameters where links are available, save relevant platform insights and define the reporting window. Record what happens if a reel receives paid amplification. Without these notes, post-campaign comparisons can be misleading.

Look at qualitative signals

Relevant comments, questions and saves reveal what people found useful or confusing. Some of the most useful insights are not a single number: which feature viewers noticed, which claim needed clarification and which audience segment responded.

Make reporting actionable

End with a short decision: repeat, change or stop. Compare the result with the objective and the creative effort required. A small campaign with clear learning can inform a better next investment than a large report full of disconnected figures.

Good content begins with understanding people — not copying the last trend.
